Food and Wine in Umbria

In order to sample the best of Umbria’s food and wine specialities, we recommend:

  • The wine cellars of the Umbrian Valley, the olive groves of Assisi and Spello and local produce, not to mention the coffee of Foligno, the typical taverns and the excellent restaurants of Montefalco and Bevagna.

  • The Sibillini National Park with its spectacular plateaus and mountain landscapes and its excellent gastronomical produce, from cured meets to the black truffles of Norcia, the lentils of Castelluccio and the saffron of Cascia.

  • Umbria’s country fairs and gastronomic festivals: from the “Primi d’Italia” pasta festival in Foligno to the Perugia chocolate festival, Trevi’s black celery festival and Cannara’s red onion festival. A unique opportunity to sample typical food specialities from Umbria!

  • Cooking lessons where you will learn to prepare Umbrian dishes, wine and oil tasting, but also visits to cheese producers, sampling bruschetta at the olive mill and dinners with typical dishes, in a voyage of discovery of Umbrian food specialities and culinary traditions.
